Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere) in Budapest is located at the end of Andrássy út (Andrássy Way) and is perhaps the equivalent of Leicester Square in London except it is not usually heaving with people.
It is one of the most important monuments in Budapest as it is a tribute to the founders of the nation, a group of seven Magyar tribes which are represented on the statues in Heroes’ Square.
Heroes’ Square is easily reached on Metro Line 1 and is close to the City Park, where you can try your hand at boating or fishing in the summer or ice skating in the winter.
Heroes’ Square is the perfect photo spot to head to when the weather in Budapest is hot as you can take some photos and then relax by the lake in one of the nicest Budapest parks where there is always something interesting to watch.
Other notable nearby attractions include the Budapest Zoo, the Budapest Circus, the Szechenyi Baths, the Hungarian Agriculture Museum and a couple of good bars and restaurants for relaxing at with a cold Hungarian beer or Hungarian wine at the end of your sightseeing tour.
