When Is the Best Time to visit the Hungarian State Opera House?

If you visit the opera house during the day, you will be able to take a guided tour and learn all about the gorgeous architecture. The tours are offered at 3 pm and 4 pm every day of the week and are conducted in six languages. Each tour lasts around 45 minutes.

You can then visit the opera house again in the evening, eat dinner at a nearby restaurant and see a world-class opera concert or ballet performance before heading out for some cocktails.

What to Look for When You Are Inside

The Hungarian State Opera House is a truly beautiful building – it was designed by famous Hungarian architecture Miklós Ybl – and there are a few notable architectural features to look for during your visit. There are statues of the world’s greatest composers along the main façade on the outside of the building, including Mozart, Verdi, Beethoven and the Hungarian composer .

If you really want to understand the work that went in to the construction of the Budapest Opera House and why it is so revered take the time to take in every detail of this beautiful building – the detail is divine. The acoustics of the building are also regarded as equal to the acoustics inside the other great European opera houses

The interior is something you can only experience by joining one of the guided tours or going to a concert.

It is well worth doing one or the other as you will find the interior even more spectacular than the outside. The impressive foyer with a grand staircase and works of famous Hungarian artists on the walls are memorable. Don’t forget to look up at the ceiling and spot the gorgeous frescoes that depict scenes featuring the Greek gods.

You can also see beautiful landscape paintings by Árpád Feszty along the walls.
