Oktogon in Budapest

Oktogon in Budapest is perhaps comparable to Leicester Square in London as they are both near the centre of their respective cities, major traffic interchanges and home to large backlit advertising billboards.

Oktogon in Budapest

Oktogon is located in the VI district on the Pest side of Budapest, halfway along Andrássy út (Andrássy Way) and Metro Line 1 (also known as the Millenium Metro) which follows Andrássy út under ground from Deák tér to beyond Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere) and the City Park.

The square has had numerous different names in the past including Mussolini Square (1936-1945) and November 7 Square (1945-1990).

There are probably not a huge number of reasons to visit Oktogon unless you are passing though on your way to Heroes’ Square on a sightseeing trip or feel like grabbing a 4am McDonalds at the nearby 24 hour take-away restaurant.
