March is one of the most beautiful month to visit Budapest as spring slowly starts to take hold and the days start to brighten and lengthen. Although March can be quite chilly (0° to +7° Celcius) it is characterized by lots of sunshine. There are frequent scattered showers making March one of the wettest months in Budapest.

Budapest Weather in April

By April spring is usually springing in to life in Budapest. The weather is quite often very pleasant with lots of sunshine as the city starts to bloom. With that said the weather can still be unpredictable with April showers likely (it has even been known to snow in April) and a chance of flooding around the Danube. The temperature in April can reach 16°C but it is more usually in the range of 6°C to 12°C particularly towards the beginning of the month.

During May the weather in Budapest starts to transition from spring to summer weather. Temperatures can reach more than 21°C but it can also be lower than 11°C with spring showers still quite likely. The skies are generally clear and the evenings much warmer than in March and April making it a very pleasant time of year to experience the city on foot.

August is much like July with hot weather and lots of sunshine. Like July, the average temperature is usually between 21°C and 26°C with the odd day where temperatures are lower when there is a chance of rain. Equally, or perhaps more so, there are many days when it can be hotter. Particularly in the middle of the day.

September see the the start of autumn. The days are still warm and sunny but not as hot as in the July or August. Expect plenty of pleasant, sunny days in September, but with the evenings getting colder. Average temperatures range from 16°C up to 22°C although there can be colder days too it is generally a dry month with little rain.
